Aggiornamento: 1/2007 Percorso.
Dall'estremità superiore della piazza di Valleggia saliamo una ripida stradina
asfaltata (segnavia FIE ).
Saliamo ripidamente per circa un chilometro raggiungendo alcune case, qui svoltiamo
decisamente a destra, in leggera discesa.
metro a sinistra (km 5,5).
Ascent from Valleggia to Rocche Bianche
Updating: 1/2005 Run.
From the superior extremity of the square of Valleggia we go up for a steep narrow
asphalted road (trail sign FIE ).
We steeply go up for around a kilometer reaching some houses, here we turn to
the right decidedly, in descent on dirt road.
After few meters the ascent it takes steep again and it becomes a dirt road. At
a pass three roads (km 2,5) start.
We turn to the right and we face the steep ascent on a dirt road on the maximum
inclination. The ascent continues on the dirt road that cuts the southern side
of the ridge without leaving breath.
The road finishes to a crossroads (km 3,5). Of the two roads to the left we take
that to the right that less steep climbs, changing side. Some stretches force
to go down of saddle, then the inclination decreases and we continues to hillside
and then with a stretch in descent that finishes to the intersection with a road.
To the right we would go down to Faia (itinerary 11), we go
to the left instead climbing with some hairpin bends of reasonable inclination
up to come under an evident saddleback with benches that it is not reached leaving
to the left it some meter (km 5,5).
The road continues to the right becoming wide and carriage; we arrive so to a
pass where we change side again.
The pleasant run maintains its almost level and leads to a fork (km 7,8; from
left climbs the itinerary 11 from Segno).
We go to the right continuing on a stretch in steep descent at the end of which
we still go straight on. It follows an up and down stretch that finishes to a
crossroads (km 10).
We could go down to the left, on the trail sign FIE ,
shortening the run; we go instead straight on a narrow road that soon it begins
to climb and it leads in a lawn in front of a farmhouse. Continuing we pass above
the restaurant and we arrive to the square of the White Fortresses (km 12).
We go down to the left on the carriage road with asphalted stretches up to reach
the intersection where the tarmac goes to the left for Segno (km 14). We go down
to the right instead on the ample dirt road. Later around 700 meters look out
to take to the left a narrow forest road (trail sign FIE ).
We continue to hillside with stretches in descent arriving to an intersection
(km 15) where we turn to the right leaving the principal road that goes down (varying
8.1).
We continue first in ascent then in steep descent arriving to an intersection
(km 16) where we keep the left, in plain (trail sign ;
to the right varying 8.2).
We still meet a crossroads after two kilometers where we go to ascent reaching
the ridge. We follow the ridge with its up and down to arrive on top of the Bric
Colombino with its aerials (km 17,3).
A very steep descent on dirt road then to the right with smaller inclination.
We arrive to a road that we follow to the left, we pass near a house and we reach
an ample pass with three roads. Here it arrives from right the itinerary
4 that climbs from Spotorno.
We go straight on then climb a steep ramp in concrete. Other small pass with an
intersection where we go to the right (to the left the itinerary
12 goes down). The road continues in ascent and then in descent passing above
a quarry, another square of quarry to the right and then final descent to a pass
(km 23).
With the road to the left it is possible to quickly reach Vado Ligure and to finish
the turn.
We go to the right instead on descent dirt road. To the left we see the gate from
where the itinerary 13 arrives and passes the variation
8.3.
After few meters we have to turn to the right clearly on a narrow road.
The level run directs its toward the Mao mountain becoming path. We continue in
almost level skirting along the base of the mountain, we go out of the valley
and we continue with ample sight on the sea.
Finally the ground becomes concrete, then tarmac and we steeply go down to
Spotorno (km 26).
To the left on the Aurelia for Vado and Valleggia. Dislivello: 700 m Rideable: 99% Observations: Numerous possible variations exist. At the pass of the km
23 be careful not to follow to the right the inviting dirt road in descent; is
blind and with mordant dog! To turn instead immediatly to the right. Varying 8.1:
it's a link that offers a possible descent from White Fortresses but it also allows
to reach Segno without climbing the White Fortresses for the one who arrives from
Spotorno/Bergeggi/Vado.
At the fork we go in descent (trail sign S in white field and FIE ,
horse run). The descent presents some steep stretches. After a kilometer we find
a fork where we turn to the left, in plain.
The descent continuous then the path does more narrow but it immediately widens
becoming a narrow road that leads to the houses and the tarmac of street Contrada
(km 3,3). At the intersection after the houses we turn to the left and we arrive
to the road that from Segno climbs (km 3,7).
Climbing to the left we reach in 300 meters the fork for Campo of French used
by the itinerary 11. Varying 8.2:
we turn to the right and the road immediately starts to go down. We get over a
brief steep stretch going out on a wide road. Few hundred meters and we go out
on the tarmac (km 0,5). To the right we would go to Vezzi, going instead to the
left we meet the followings intersections:
descent for Spotorno (km 2,4. Itinerary 4, varying
1 of the finalese);
ascent for bric Colombino (km 3,4);
descent for Spotorno (km 4,1. Itinerary
4 of the finalese).
Varying 8.3:
Interesting run, but it crosses a private ownership a lot of defense from poster
of prohibition of access. Probably the right of passage on the path cannot be
interdicted, however it is opportune to proceed with education.
We cross the gate and we follow the narrow road, leaving therefore to the left
the itinerary 13. We arrive to a house (km 0,3), we cross the courtyard and we
continue on the path.
We reach an intersection (km 0,5). Going down to the right and then turning to
the left to the fork we could reach the tarmac road in 300 meters. We go to
the left instead, in ascent.
The road continues in light ascent and it reaches the great square where we meet
the itinerary 13 (km 1,1) that we follow contrarily. We
reach therefore the powder magazine and get over the difficult descent arriving
on the tarmac (km 1,9) where we turn to the right for Bergeggi.
