Discesa da Rocche Bianche a Valleggia

Partenza: Rocche Bianche è raggiungibile con l'itinerario 3, l'itinerario 7, l'itinerario 8 e con l'itinerario 4 del finalese. E' inoltre facilmente accessibile dalla strada che collega Colla del Termine e Colla di San Giacomo (vedi itinerario 6 e itinerario 2).
Percorso.
Dal cippo scendiamo leggermente verso sud ed imbocchiamo la stradina che sale a sinistra e costeggia a monte la trattoria. Proseguiamo passando presso una casa di fronte alla quale imbocchiamo la strada in discesa.
Seguiamo la stradina fino ad arrivare ad un quadrivio (km 1,7) dove andiamo diritti (leggermente a sinistra). La strada costeggia le pendici meridionali della Rocca dei Corvi con qualche saliscendi; attraversiamo una frana e scendiamo ad un bivio ai piedi di una ripida rampa (km 3,2).
Superiamo la rampa e proseguiamo in discesa fino ad incrociare la strada sterrata che sale da Segno (km 3,8). Proseguiamo a sinistra in salita (segnavia FIE r6, che seguiremo a lungo). La strada prosegue ampia, in leggera discesa ed infine risale ad un valico (km 5,9).
Trascuriamo la strada che sale a destra ed attraversiamo il metanodotto proseguendo in discesa sul versante settentrionale. Passiamo nei pressi di un colletto con panchine. La strada sale leggermente e poi scende con qualche tornante.
Occorre prestare molta attenzione perchè è necessario abbandonare questa invitante strada dopo circa 600 metri di discesa (km 6,8). Qui si stacca a destra una stradina pianeggiante. La strada sale leggermente e presto inizia a scendere con pendenza crescente e fondo in peggioramento.
Arriviamo sul crinale dove incrociamo ancora il metanodotto (km 8) e continuiamo imboccando la strada che scende tagliando il versante meridionale del monte.
La discesa ripida termina ad un colletto dove incontriamo una strada (km 9) più larga. Scendiamo a sinistra sulla strada che diviene asfaltata e scende a raggiungere alcune case (km 10,3). Non resta che scendere per raggiungere la piazza di Valleggia (km 11,4).
Dislivello: 650 m.
Ciclabilità: 100%.
Asfalto: 16%, ma sta guadagnando terreno.
Osservazioni: è il tracciato descritto anche nell´itinerario 8, in senso contrario. Utile per scendere dai vari itinerari soprattutto quando vi sia neve sui versanti di Roviasca e Montagna.

Run.
From the cippus we slightly go down toward south and we take the road that climbs to the left and it skirts above the restaurant. We continue passing near a house in front of which we take the road in descent.
We follow the road as far as a crossroads (km 1,8) where we go straight (slightly to the left). We skirt along the southern slopes of the Rocca dei Corvi with some up and down; we cross a landslide, we get over a steep ruined ramp and we finally arrive to cross the dirt road that it climbs from Segno (km 4,2). We continue to the left, in slope. The road continues ample, in light descent and it finally goes up again to a pass (km 6,3).
Here we continue on the road, that continues on the northern slope, it reaches a pass with benches. We keep to the left on the road that it slightly goes up again and then it decidedly begins to go down with some hairping curves.
It is necessary to do a lot of attention because we have to leave this inviting road later around 600 meters descent (km 7). Here it detaches to the right a level road. We follow it in light slope. After few it begins to go down with increasing inclination and bed in worsening.
We arrive to an intersection (km 8,5): to the left the path FIE goes down, to the right go up a ramp, opposite a road is opened. We cross the intersection taking the road that goes down cutting the southern slope of the mountain.
The steep descent it finishes to a pass where we meet a road (km 9,5). We go down to the left reaching the asphalt road in proximity of some houses (km 11). We go down reaching the square of Valleggia (km 12).
Gradient: 600 m.
On saddle: 100 %, excluded a short steep slope 200 m.
Observations: it is the layout also described in the itinerary 8 in contrary sense. Useful to go down from the varied itineraries when there is snow on the slopes of Roviasca and Montagna.
