Discesa dal Monte Dente a Masone

Partenza: la vetta è raggiungibile salendo il ripido, ed impedalabile, sentiero che parte dalla strada asfaltata del Passo del Faiallo in località Sella del Barnè.
Descrizione.
Dalla selletta al di sotto della vetta (dove abbiamo lasciato le bici) scendiamo verso settentrione seguendo il segnavia FIE .
Dopo i primi metri il segnavia si dirige verso sinistra entrando nella macchia di noccioli. Lo lasciamo e scendiamo direttamente seguendo una evidente traccia sulla destra. La discesa presenta qualche tratto molto ripido ma in breve la pendenza si attenua e raggiungiamo un sentiero maggiore (km 0,6) che seguiamo a destra.
Incontriamo il segnavia FIE  (diretto alla Sella del Barnè ed utilizzato dalla variante 6.3) e proseguiamo raggiungendo la sella a monte del Bric Dentino (km 1,1) dove incontriamo il segnavia  che proviene da Cascina Troia.
Il sentiero scende costeggiando sulla destra il Bric, molto dissestato e poco ciclabile.
Al termine della discesa lasciamo a destra il sentiero per cascina Troia e cominciamo a salire. Attraversiamo le panoramiche radure del crinale e scendiamo brevemente all´incrocio col sentiero diretto al passo Fruia (km 2,6).
Lasciamo a sinistra i segnavia FIE (  e ) che vanno al Passo Fruia (raccordo 6.1) e proseguiamo sulla sterrata inizialmente in leggera salita e poi in discesa.
Un tratto molto dissestato e disturbato dalla vegetazione ci porta su una selletta (km 3,5), il sentiero poi prosegue quasi in piano.
Un'altra discesa ripida e dissestata ci porta ad un colle (km 4,3; Col Badè) dove incontriamo i segnavia FIE  che vanno a sinistra al passo Fruia.
Proseguiamo diritti, ora in leggera salita, e raggiungiamo il termine della foresta demaniale (km 4,8). Dopo una sella prativa seguiamo una strada forestale che è ripida e dissestata, ciclabile ma certo non riposante.
Ad un bivio (km 6) il segnavia  scende a destra. Lasciamo la strada e svoltiamo nel sentiero che scende, con qualche tratto sassoso e sconnesso. Il sentiero termina sulla strada asfaltata (km 6,2) e la seguiamo in discesa.
Arriviamo ad un gruppo di case (km 6,5; Ronchetto) dove proseguiamo diritti. La strada supera l'ultima casa e diventa una larga mulattiera. Scendiamo senza difficoltà. In prossimità di alcune costruzione la mulattiera si allarga a strada che scende con un tornante e termina al ponte (km 7,4). Attraversiamo il torrente Masone e svoltiamo a sinistra, passiamo al di sotto dell'autostrada.
La strada sale verso il centro del paese. Trascuriamo le strade che scendono a sinistra, in discesa superiamo la chiesa e proseguiamo fino alla provinciale e al centro (km 8,5).

Osservazioni:
Variante 6.1.
Al km 6 andiamo diritti. La strada attraversa il cortile di cascina Cianasso (cani, capre; andare pianissimo!) dove inizia l´asfalto che scende rapidamente a ritrovare l'itinerario principale. Molto più facile, ma l'attraversamento dell'aia della cascina può presentare qualche problema.
Variante 6.2.
Al quadrivio di case Ronchetto possiamo seguire a destra la strada asfaltata che scende alla provinciale a circa 1,5 km da Masone. Di nessun interesse.
Variante 6.3:
Quasi altrettanto faticoso che la salita al Dente, ma di minore soddisfazione. Interessante perchè è l´antica via di comunicazione tra il versante marittimo e l´entroterra.
Dalla strada asfaltata che collega il passo del Turchino al passo del Faiallo, in corrispondenza di un valico (sella del Barnè) partono a destra due sentieri. Uno sale alla soprastante vetta del monte Dente, l'altro si allontana pianeggiante.
Qui è situata una palina segnaletica che riporta i numerosi segnavia ed una carta topografica. Prendiamo il sentiero pianeggiante che dopo pochi metri diviene impercorribile in sella. Il sentiero costeggia il ripido versante della montagna, con tratti che conservano l´antica selciatura a testimoniare l'importanza di questa "via del sale".
Con faticosi tornanti guadagniamo quota e raggiungiamo il crinale al passaggio roccioso della "Porta del Dente" (km 0,6).
La discesa non è semplice ma permette di procedere in sella. Raggiunto il punto più basso il sentiero sale e confluisce nel sentiero dell´itinerario principale (km 1,2).
Raccordo 6.1.
Al bivio svoltiamo a sinistra seguendo i segnavia FIE  e . Il sentiero attraversa facilmente le praterie, poi diviene dissestato divenendo fondo di un ruscello. Proseguiamo sulla sinistra uscendo esattamente al Passo Fruia (km 0,75).

       

Descent from mount Dente to Masone

Departure: the peak is attainable climbing the steep, and no cycle one, path that departs from the asphalted road of the Pass of the Faiallo in the place Saddles of the Barnè.
Description.
From the little saddle below the peak (where we have left the bikes) we go down toward north following the trail sign FIE .
After the first meters the trail sign goes toward left entering the cores bush. We leave it and we directly go down following an evident trace on the right. The descent offers some very steep but shortly tract then the inclination weakens and we reaches a greater path (km 0,6) that we follow to the right.
We meet the trail sign FIE  and  (going to the Saddle of the Barnè and used by the variation 6.3) and we continue reaching the saddle of the Bric Dentino (km 1,1) where we meet the trail sign  that it arrives from Farmhouse Troia.
The path goes down skirting on the right the Bric, very ruined and few cycle.
At the end of the descent we leave to the right the path for farmhouse Troia and we start to climb. We cross the panoramics clearings of the ridge and we shortly go down to the cross with the path directed to the pass Fruia (km 2,6).
We leave to the left the trail signs FIE (  and ) that they go to the Pass Fruia (link 6.1) and we continue on the unsurfaced road initially in light ascent and then in descent.
A tract very ruined and disturbed by the vegetation it brings us on a pass (km 3,5), then the path continues almost in plain.
Another steep and ruined descent it brings us to a pass (km 4,3; Pass Badè) where we meet the trail signs FIE  that they go to the left to the pass Fruia.
We continue straight, now in light ascent, and we reach the term of the Regional forest (km 4,8). After a meadow saddle we follow a forest road that is steep and ruined, cycle but certain not restful.
To a fork (km 6) the trail sign goes to the right. We leave the road and we turn in the path that goes down, with some stony and rough tract. The path finishes on the asphalted road (km 6,2) and we follow it in descent.
We arrive to a group of houses (km 6,5; Ronchetto) where we continue straight. The road overcomes the last house and becomes a wide mule-track. We go down without difficulty. In proximity of some construction the mule-track widens to road that goes down with a hairping bend and it finishes to the bridge (km 7,4). We cross the stream Masone, we turn to the left and we pass below the highway.
The road climbs toward the center of the country. We neglect the roads that go down to the left; in descent we overcome the church and we continue up to the provincial road and to the center (km 8,5).
Gradient: -730 ms.

Observations:
Varying 6.3:
Almost as many fatiguing that the ascent to the Dente, but with lesser satisfaction. Interesting because it is the ancient street of communication between the maritime side and the hinterland.
From the tarmac road that links the pass of the Turchino to the pass of the Faiallo, in correspondence of a pass (saddle of the Barnè) two paths depart to the right. One climbs to the above peak of the Dente mountain, the other one gets further level.
Here a descriptive ranging rod is situated, that relates the numerous trail signs and a topographical paper. We take the level path that becomes impassable in saddle after few meters take. The path skirts the steep side of the mountain, with stretches that preserves the ancient paved that testify the importance of this "street of the salt."
With fatiguing hairpin bends we gain height and we reach the ridge to the rocky passage of the "Doors of the Tooth" (km 0,6).
The descent is not simple but it allows to proceed in saddle. Reached the lowest point the path climbs and it meets in the path of the main itinerary (km 1,2).
Link 6.1.
To the fork we turn to the left following the trail signs FIE  and . The path easily crosses the grasslands, then it becomes rough becoming bottom of a brook. We continue on the left exactly going out to the Pass Fruia (km 0,75).
