Salita da Vobbia al Patriarca

Il Patriarca non è una località ma un gigantesco castagno.

Partenza: Vobbia principale paese della valle omonima.
Descrizione.
Dal ponte di Vobbia seguiamo la strada per Mongiardino che, in leggera salita, costeggia il torrente. Arrivati al ponte Scaglione (km 1) lo attraversiamo e svoltiamo a sinistra seguendo le indicazioni per Arezzo.
La strada asfaltata sale senza particolari difficoltà. Superiamo le case di Inserumi e raggiungiamo un bivio alle porte di Arezzo (km 4,1).
Lasciamo la strada che va in paese e saliamo a destra raggiungendo la chiesa. Proseguiamo e, dopo pochi metri, svoltiamo a destra in una strada con fondo di cemento (km 4,3).
Al termine del cemento la salita diventa troppo ripida e dissestata e proseguiamo a piedi raggiungendo una spalla.
La strada prosegue a sinistra, ma il tratto facile dura poco. Affrontiamo una serie di ripide ed impedalabili rampe, alternate a brevi tratti più agevoli e raggiungiamo un bivio (km 5,5).
Svoltiamo a destra superando l'ennesima impedalabile rampa e proseguiamo faticosamente fino ad un altro bivio (km 5,8).
Il tratto faticoso è finito. Svoltiamo a destra e seguiamo una facile strada forestale in lieve salita. Usciti dal bosco iniziamo a scendere sulla comoda sterrata che termina sull´asfalto (km 8,3).
Svoltiamo a destra e scendiamo a Vallenzona (km 8,7). Andiamo a sinistra sulla strada asfaltata che sale alle case di Costa. Attraversiamo le case trascurando le stradine che si staccano ai due lati ed usciamo dal paese, in discesa.
Seguiamo la stradina erbosa che scende fino a raggiungere il torrente (km 10,5). La strada prosegue oltre il guado e sale nel bosco presentando solo qualche strappo più ripido.
Con un breve tratto pianeggiante raggiungiamo lo spettacolare castagno, impossibile non notarlo (km 11,9).
La strada termina poco più avanti.
Dislivello: 500 m salita e 250 in discesa.
Ciclabilità: 94%

Osservazioni: totalmente ciclabile in senso contrario.

Ascent from Vobbia to the Patriarch

Description.
From the bridge of Vobbia we follow the road for Mongiardino that, in light ascent, skirts the stream. Reached the bridge Scaglione (km 1) we cross it and we turn to the left following the indications for Arezzo.
The tarmac road climbs without particular difficulties. We get over the houses of Inserumi and we reach a fork to the doors of Arezzo (km 4,1).
We leave the road that goes to the right to country and climb reaching the church. We continue and, after few meters, we turn to the right in a road with concrete ground (km 4,3).
At the end of the concrete the ascent becomes too much steep and rough and we continue on foot reaching a shoulder.
The road continues to the left, but the easy stretch is short. We face a succession of steep and no cycle ramps, alternate to brief easier stretches and we reach a fork (km 5,5).
We turn to the right overcoming the nth no cycle ramps and we laboriously continues up another fork (km 5,8).
The fatiguing stretch is ended. We turn to the right and we follow an easy forest road the light ascent. Gone out of the wood we begin to go down on the comfortable dirt road that finishes on the asphalt (km 8,3).
We turn to the right and go down to Vallenzona (km 8,7). We go to the left on the tarmac that climbs the homes of Costa. We cross the houses disregarding the narrow roads that detach its to the two sides and we go out of the country in descent.
We follow the narrow grassy road that goes down up reach the stream (km 10,5). The road continues over the ford and climbs in the wood alone presenting some steep tract.
With a brief level stretch we reach the spectacular chestnut tree, impossible not to notice it (km 11,9).
The road finishes a bit further on.
