Dalla strada antistante al cancello del Santuario prendiamo il sentiero che costeggia il muro di destra (segnavia FIE e ). Lo stretto sentiero aggira la costruzione ed esce sul crinale.
Dopo qualche metro pianeggiante scendiamo ripidamente ad un sella. Molti escrementi
del gregge che pascola qui attorno e che ci accompagneranno a lungo.
Un tratto pianeggiante ci porta ad attraversare una spaccatura tra le caratteristiche roccette. Proseguiamo con qualche saliscendi e raggiungiamo un bivio (km 1,3) dove
lasciamo a destra l´itinerario 9 ed il segnavia .
Il sentiero sale, supera un dosso e raggiunge l'inizio di una salita. La rampa termina su un dosso e proseguiamo in discesa.
Raggiungiamo una caratteristica casella (costruzione in pietra; km 2,1), la superiamo e ne raggiungiamo un'altra situata all´inizio della salita.
Con salita non ciclabile raggiungiamo la cresta che costituisce la vetta del monte Acuto (km
2,6).
La discesa avviene sul crinale e porta ad una sella dove teniamo la sinistra per aggirare l'ennesimo dosso. Alla sella successiva scendiamo a destra un ripido versante roccioso. Raggiungiamo i segnali di un oleodotto sul cui tracciato scendiamo fino a raggiungere il crinale.
La discesa prosegue con qualche saliscendi e porta ad una sella su cui sorge il traliccio di un elettrodotto (km
4,2).
Ancora saliscendi e raggiungiamo la netta insellatura ai piedi del ripido monte Croce (km 4,8).
Abbandoniamo il segnavia che sale e prendiamo un sentiero quasi pianeggiante che va a destra.
Il sentiero taglia tutto il versante meridionale del monte con percorso non difficile e raggiunge di nuovo il crinale principale (km
5,4) dove ritroviamo il segnavia.
Ci portiamo sul versante settentrionale e proseguiamo con poca discesa fino a ritrovare il crinale.
La discesa prosegue sempre impegnativa e rocciosa. La discesa termina ad una insellatura (km
6,4) dove incontriamo l´itinerario 1 che seguiamo al contrario. Lasciamo il segnavia che sale e svoltiamo a sinistra. Il sentiero taglia il versante e raggiunge di nuovo il crinale (km 6,7).
Qui incrociamo la stradina di servizio delle antenne. Un sentiero scende a sinistra passando sotto ad una edicola panoramica.
Prendiamo invece la stradina che scende a destra. Perdiamo quota rapidamente con alcuni tornanti
e raggiungiamo un bivio dove andiamo a sinistra.
La sterrata continua a scendere con tornanti e arriviamo a costeggiare un laghetto (km
8,2).
Poco dopo il segnavia scende a sinistra effettuando una scorciatoia. Al bivio andiamo a destra scendendo fin dove la strada ha termine. Proseguiamo sul sentiero che presenta qualche passaggio non ciclabile.
Il sentiero si allarga a stradina che diviene asfaltata presso una casa.
Al bivio scendiamo a sinistra e raggiungiamo rapidamente la periferia di Ceriale, non distante dalla stazione (km 9,6). Dislivello: 880 m Ciclabilità: 83% Asfalto: 6%. Osservazioni: percorso molto impegnativo. Le difficoltà sono simili a quelle degli altri due itinerari che scendono a Ceriale (itinerari 9 e 10), ma presenta anche qualche faticosa salita.
Descent from the Sanctuary of Balestrino to Ceriale
Updating: 2/2006 Description.
From the road in front of the gate of the Sanctuary we take the path that skirts the right wall (trail sign FIE and ). The narrow path revolves the construction and goes out on the ridge.
After some level meter we steeply go down to a saddle. Many excrements of the flock that it pastures here and that they will accompany for a long time us.
A level stretch leads to cross a breaking among the characteristic rocks. We continue with some up-and-downs and we reach a fork (km 1,3) where we leave to the right the itinerary 9 and the trail sign .
The path climbs, overcomes a back and reaches the beginning of an ascent. The ramp finishes on a back and we continues in descent.
We reach a characteristic casella (construction in stone; km 2,1), we get over it and we reach another of it situated to the beginning of the ascent.
With non cycle ascent we reach the ridge that constitutes the peak of the Acute mountain (km 2,6).
The descent stays on the ridge and leads to a saddle where we hold the left to revolve the nth back. At the following saddle we descend to the right a steep rocky side. We reach the signals of a pipeline on whose traced we go down up to reach the ridge again.
The descent continues with some up-and-downs and leads to a saddle on which the pylon of a power line rises (km 4,2).
Others up-and-down and we reach the saddleback to the feet of the steep Cross mountain (km 4,8).
We leave the trail sign that climbs and we take an almost level path that goes to the right.
The path cuts the whole southern side of the mountain with non difficult run and reaches again the main ridge (km 5,4) where we find again the trail sign.
We bring us on the northern side and we continue with little descent up to find again the ridge.
The descent always continues binding and rocky. The descent finishes to a saddleback (km 6,4) where we meet the itinerary 1 that we follow contrarily. We leave the trail sign that climbs and we turn to the left. The path cuts the side and reaches again the ridge (km 6,7).
Here we cross the narrow road of service of the aerials. A path goes down to the left passing under to a panoramic chapel.
We take the narrow road instead that goes down to the right. We quickly lose height with some hairpin bends and we reach a fork where we go to the left.
The dirt road continues to go down with hairpin bends and we reach a little pond (km 8,2).
Shortly after the trail sign goes down to the left effecting a shortcut. To the fork we go to the right going down up where the road has term. We continue on the path that presents some non cycle passage.
The path widens to narrow road that becomes tarmac near a house.
To the fork we go down to the left and we quickly reach the outskirts of Ceriale, not distant from the station (km 9,6). Gradient: 880 ms Cycle: 83% Tarmac: 6%. Observations: very binding run. Difficulties are similar to those of the other two itineraries that go down to Ceriale (itineraries 9 and 10), but presents also some fatiguing ascent.
