Usciamo dal paese in direzione est e proseguiamo sulla strada provinciale. Al bivio, ampiamente segnalato, svoltiamo a sinistra in direzione di Borghetto d'Arroscia.
Dopo le prime case
(km 1,9) svoltiamo a sinistra in una strada che sale, ripida ed asfaltata (indicazioni per Quartarole e Gazzo).
Saliamo, seguendo le indicazioni per Gazzo agli incroci,
e superiamo questo paese. La strada sale costeggiando il cimitero e raggiunge una chiesa isolata ed un incrocio (km 8,9).
Prendiamo la stradina in forte salita. Il percorso diventa sterrato per un tratto e poi di nuovo asfaltato (ma la strada è già preparata per essere interamente asfaltata) fino ad un tornante (km 7,9).
Dopo un tratti pianeggiante saliamo con qualche tornante e raggiungiamo un incrocio (km 14,3) dove andiamo a sinistra. Dopo una cinquantina di metri lasciamo a sinistra la strada per Colla Domenica e proseguiamo a destra, in comune con l'itinerario 4.
La strada sale e raggiunge il santuario dedicato ai SS. Cosma e Damiano (San Cosimo sulle carte; km 15,6).
Effettuiamo un tornante e proseguiamo la salita sulla strada ora più stretta. Un paio di tornanti ci fanno guadagnare quota e ci permettono di raggiungere il termine della strada sul prato dove sorge la Cappella della Madonna del Monte (km 17,5). Dislivello: 1000 m. Ciclabilità: 100% Asfalto: 61%. Osservazioni: più asfaltato e noioso dell'itinerario 4.
Ascent from Vessalico to the Madonna of the Mountain

We go out of the country in east direction and we continue on the provincial road. To the fork, broadly signalled, we turn to the left in direction of Borghetto of Arroscia.
After the first houses (km 1,9) we turn to the left in a road that climbs, steep and asphalted (indications for Quartarole and Gazzo).
We climb, following the indications for Gazzo to the intersections, and we overcome this country. The road climbs skirting the cemetery and reaches an isolated church and an intersection (km 8,9).
We take the narrow road in strong ascent. The run becomes dirt road for a tract and then again asphalted (but the road is already prepared for being entirely asphalted) up to an hairping bend (km 7,9).
After a leve tractsl we climb with some hairping bend and we reach an intersection (km 14,3) where we go to the left. After about fifty meters we leave to the left the road for Colla Domenica and we continue to the right, in common with the itinerary 4.
The road climbs and reaches the sanctuary devoted to the SS. Cosma and Damiano (St. Cosimo on the papers; km 15,6).
We effect an hairping bend and we now continue the ascent on the more narrow road. A pair of hairping bend make us gain altitude and they allow us to reach the term of the road on the lawn where the Chapel of the Madonna of the Mountain stands (km 17,5). Gradient: 1000 ms. Cycle: 100% Asphalt: 61%. Observations: more asphalted and boring of the itinerary 4.
