Dal monte Pennello scendiamo seguendo la strada di salita (o il sentiero che taglia i tornanti) e raggiungiamo il Colle Gandolfi (km 0,6).
Qui svoltiamo a destra prendendo il sentiero con segnavia FIE . Il sentiero attraversa le radure scendendo con pendenza contenuta e raggiunge una sorgente posta sotto ad una linea elettrica (km 1,1).
Attraversiamo il Piano Gandolfi, costeggiando la linea elettrica,
superando qualche breve tratto dissestato. Al termine del pianoro il sentiero sale leggermente.
Proseguiamo in discesa su un lungo traverso non difficile a parte qualche salto roccioso. Una discesa ripida e con qualche salto di roccia ci porta su una sella erbosa (km
2,6).
Il sentiero prosegue con un traverso poco sotto al crinale. Attraversiamo ancora una volta la linea elettrica ed iniziamo la parte difficile.
La pendenza aumenta e scendiamo con alcuni tornanti ripidi e sassosi. Ad un tratto facile attraverso il bosco
segue un'altra serie di tornanti.
Il sentiero entra tra i castagni e si affaccia su San Carlo. Una serie di tornanti ci fa perdere quota rapidamente e ci porta alla prima casa dove incontriamo l'asfalto (km 4,6).
Seguiamo l'asfalto e raggiungiamo la strada di fondovalle presso il capolinea dell'autobus (km 4,7). Seguiamo la strada che scende alla chiesa di San Carlo (km 5,2). Dislivello: -680 m. Ciclabilità: 92% Asfalto: 12% Osservazioni: bella discesa ma con una parte impegnativa.

From the Penello mountain we go down following the road of ascent (or the path that cuts the hairping bend) and we reach the Gandolfi Pass (km 0,6).
We turn to the left here taking the path with trail sign FIE . The path crosses the clearings going down with limited inclination and reaches a source under an electric line (km 1,1).
We cross the Plain Gandolfi, skirting the electric line overcoming some brief ruined tract. At the end of the plain the path slightly climbs.
We continue in descent on a long non difficult beam apart from some rocky jump. A steep and with some jump of rock descent it brings us on a grassy saddle (km 2,6).
The path continues with a beam little bottom to the ridge. We cross once more the electric line and we begin the difficult part.
The inclination increases and we goes down with some steep and stony hairping bends. To an easy tract through the wood it follows another series of hairping bend.
The path enters among the chestnut trees and leans out on St. Charles. A series of hairping bends makes us quickly lose height and it brings us to the first house where we meet the asphalt (km 4,6).
We follow the asphalt and we reach the road of valley floor near the terminal of the bus (km 4,7) in Camposilvano. We follow the road that goes down to the church of St. Charles (km 5,2). Gradient: -680 ms. Cycle: 92% Asphalt: 12% Observations: beautiful descent but with a difficult part
