Updating: 12/2006
Departure: Pass St. Giacomo is attainable: by the itinerary 2; by the itinerary 1 of the Bormides; by the itinerary 2 and the itinerary 6 of Vado. The list is not exhaustive.
Run
From Pass S. Giacomo we take the road directed toward the Melogno that crosses almost in plain the forest.
To the first fork that we meet (km 1,4) we go down to the left following the trail sign
.
We go down to the first intersection (km 1,5) and we turn to the right for taking the road, closed by a bar, that goes to the right in light descent.
The road continues in the wood alternating tracts in descent to others in ascent, then it decidedly loses altitude with some switcbacks.
After a tract in diagonal toward west we face a steep descent. We arrive so to a clear turn to the right and we go down to a ford (km 3,1). It has beginning a tract of 500 ms ruined by the floods of the brooks in prevailing ascent.
After this a little cycle tract the path widens for becoming forest road.
At the end of a tract in descent we meet a greater forest road (km 3,8) that we take and we follow to the left.
The road gives the bottom some rough, but it is cycle. With some hairping bends we go down as far as the road it widens for becoming a wide car track.
The road longly crosses, with some ups and downs, the wood and we follow it without difficulty. All of a sudden (km 6,9) we find to the left a more narrow road that it goes down in opposite direction to that from which we arrive. The intersection is a little visible, it is almost situated at the end of a tract in descent.
We go down and we reach a hairping bend where we go to the right, always on the principal road. We go down to a ford and we cross a forest road (km 7,6) that we follow to the left, in descent.
We go out on a wide dirty road (km 7,9).
We turn to the right and we follow this road that initially it is in ascent and then it goes down to the Provincial road, in the place Pian Merlino (km 9,3).
We continue the descent on the asphalted road and we arrive to an intersection near the church of S. Rocco (km 10,2).
To the right we can go down to Calice, to the left to Feglino.
In front of the church an unmetalled road departs that we take. We continue in plain on the comfortable unsurfaced road leaving to the left the variation 1.2.
After 500 meters we leave the road and we go down to the left (to the right varying 1.1; trail sign FIE
). The descent it proceeds enough easy. We reach an intersection (km 11,5) where we go to the right and we reach Pianmarino (km 11,7).
We cross the whole beautiful lawn, avoiding to stamp on the grass, and we arrive to an intersection. Here the signalled path goes to the left (it is cycle but clearly more difficulty) while we turn to the right following an unmetalled road.
It's a private road that passes near a farmhouse where are present courtyard animals, pass therefore with suitable respect! The road climbs for then going down to the houses of Montesordo which overcame we reach the asphalted road (km 13,1).
We leave to the right the variation 1.3, we turn to the left and we follow the asphalted road up to the church of Perti (km 15,3).
In front of the church a mule-track goes down. We follow it in a brief descent, then in ascent. The road begins then to go down, it passes near the Castle and it finishes to Final Borgo (km 16,7).
Gradient: 950 ms.
Cycle: 98%
Asphalt: 21%
Observations: same difficulty of orientation. The trail signs are scarce but enough. The road is enough evident but the intersection to the km 6,9 are not at all it.
Varying 1.1:
From the church of S. Rocco we follow the main itinerary. When this leaves the road to go to the left we continue on the road. We overcome a tract in ascent, then we begin to go down.
We always follow the most evident road neglecting those smaller. The steep descent becomes asphalted and we quickly reaches Calice (km 5,4).
Varying 1.2:
To the church of St. Rocco we take the unsurfaced road of the principal itinerary but we immediately leave it to go down to the left.
We follow the steep paved descent. After few the inclination decreases and we easily continues up to the houses of Cia (km 0,4). To the right we find two paths and we take that level (trail sign FIE
, itinerary 12 contrarily). We easily enough continue, but with some difficult pass, and we reach a first intersection (km 1,6). We go to the right here to ascent and we cross the preceding path; we continue straight and we go down to Pianmarino (km 1,8). December 2006. Almost entirely cycle.
Varying 1.3.
At the end of the descent from Pian Marino we meet on the asphalted road. The principal run follows the asphalt. We can turn to the right instead and to take a path that goes down skirting an enclosure (trail sign FIE
, few visible to the beginning). The path becomes a paved mule-track on which we easily go down. To a fork (km 0,3) we leave the mule-track and we turn to the right. We cross a little leaning path that finishes on an asphalted road (km 0,5). We follow the road that, without possibility of error, it reaches the provincial road for Carbuta (km 1,1). We go down to the left and we are to Calice (km 2). December 2006. Entirely cycle.
Varying 1.4.
To the church of St. Rocco we take the unsurfaced road of the principal itinerary but we immediately leave it to go down to the right.
We go down to an area equipped with benches and tables and we cross it going out in south direction. We follow a comfortable path level to the beginning.
We continue in descent to a fork where we leave to the right a freeride shortcut. The wide path effects a hairping bend and goes down to a clearing (km 1,5). We turn to the left and we steeply go down on a forest track that finishes to house Gariglio (km 1,7).
We turn to the left and we continue on the asphalted road that goes down to Calice (km 3,7).
