Aggiornamento: 11/2004 Partenza: Maissana è raggiunta da una strada asfaltata che sale dalla strada di collegamento tra Torza e Varese Ligure. Descrizione.
Dalla piazzetta del municipio di Maissana proseguiamo in salita sulla strada
asfaltata, superiamo il bivio con la strada che arriva da destra da Santa Maria
e continuiamo a salire. Ad un tornante (km 1,6) lasciamo a sinistra la strada
per Disconesi.
La salita continua asfaltata poi diviene sterrata per un breve tratto e sale
ancora asfaltata per un chilometro.
Finalmente su sterrato continuiamo la salita che termina al passo del Bocco
(km 5,4).
Svoltiamo nettamente a destra su una stradina che sale al Colle Arena. Proseguiamo
sul sentiero a tratti disagevole e non ciclabile e scendiamo al passo Broccheie
dominato dalla mole del monte Porcile (km 7,7).
Affrontiamo la non ciclabile salita che ci porta sulla strada mineraria (km
8,2) dove andiamo a sinistra.
La bella strada costeggia il monte Porcile in leggera discesa e così
raggiungiamo un incrocio (km 9,9) dove sorge una piccola costruzione.
Svoltiamo a destra, su buona sterrata. La strada scende leggermente, poi si
mantiene in quota e termina bruscamente nel bosco (km 11,3).
Cento metri prima del termine della strada, in corrispondenza di uno slargo,
prendiamo l'evidente sentiero che sale nel bosco. Superata la prima rampa il
percorso si mantiene ciclabile. Questo sentiero è raggiungibile anche
dal termine della strada salendo sulla massima pendenza fino ad incontrarlo.
Raggiungiamo così un colletto (km 11,85) dove svoltiamo decisamente a destra
raggiungendo il crinale tra il monte Verruga ed il monte Porcile (km 12). Saliamo
a sinistra per superare un dosso e raggiungiamo la base delle pareti rocciose.
Qui possiamo salire direttamente a piedi la cresta rocciosa sopra di noi per
raggiungere la vetta oppure seguire il sentiero che lascia il crinale e va a
destra attraversando in piano il versante fino a raggiungere un colletto sulla
cresta sud della montagna (km 12,7).
La vetta è raggiungibile salendo a piedi nel canalone a sinistra. Dislivello: 625 m senza la vetta. Ciclabilità: 90% Asfalto: 24% Osservazioni:
Ascent from Maissana to mount Verruga

From the square of the town hall of Maissana we continue in ascent on the asphalted
road, get over the fork with the road that arrives from right from S. Maria
and we keeps on climbing. At an hairpin bend (km 1,6) we leave to the left the
road for Disconesi.
The ascent continues asphalted then becomes dirt road for a brief stretch and
climbs still asphalted for a kilometer.
Finally on dirt road continue the ascent that finishes to the pass of the Bocco
(km 5,4).
We turn to the right clearly on a narrow road that climbs to the Arena Pass.
We continue on the path to uncomfortable and not cycle stretches and we go down
to the pass Broccheie dominated by the massive structure of the mount Porcile
(km 7,7).
We face the not cycle ascent that leads us on the mining road (km 8,2) where
we go to the left.
The beautiful road skirts the mount Porcile in light descent and so we reach
an intersection (km 9,9) where a small construction rises.
We turn to the right, on good dirt road. The road slightly goes down, then it
stays height and it brusquely finishes in the wood (km 11,3).
One hundred meters before the term of the road, in correspondence of a wide
stretch, we take the evident path that climbs in the wood. Overcome the first
ramp the run keeps cycle. This path is also attainable from the term of the
road climbing on the maximum inclination up to meet it.
We reach so a pass (km 11,85) where we turn to the right reaching the ridge
between mount Verruga and mount Porcile (km 12). We climb to the left to overcome
a back and we reach the base of the rocky walls.
We can climb on foot here directly the rocky crest above us to reach the peak
or to follow the path that the ridge leaves and goes crossing to the right in
plain the side up to reach a pass on the south crest of the mountain (km 12,7).
The peak is attainable to the left climbing on foot in the gully. Gradient: 625 ms without the peak. Cycle: 90% Tarmac: 24% Observations: Varying: (Unadvisable). From the ridge it is possible to go down to east
in the valley below (Valley of Lagorara) to reach the visible road of the pastures.
We directly goe down for traces as far as we see to the left the buildings of
the sources. We reache its and from there we take the dirt road that goes down.
Overcome an ascent we goe down to a drinking trough where we go to the right
going down as far as a gate. We climb over the gate and continue on the rough
mule-track that it meets on a wide dirt road. Going to the left meet the asphalt
and we go down to the road that connects S.Pietro Vara with Maissana.
