Dalla vetta del Bric delle Forche (bric Don Bosco) scendiamo seguendo la stessa
via di salita fino all´incrocio (km 0,6).
Svoltiamo a sinistra e seguiamo la stradina asfaltata che conduce ad un largo
piazzale (km 0,9) dove proseguiamo sulla strada principale, ora sterrata, a destra.
Quando a destra si apre un evidente sentiero (km 1,7; FIE ) lasciamo la strada e svoltiamo.
Il sentiero scende con qualche passaggio roccioso e termina su una stradina sterrata nei pressi di un cancello (km 3).
Svoltiamo a sinistra e seguiamo lo sterrato raggiungendo la chiesa della Nostra Signora della Croce (km 3,2; foresteria).
Trascuriamo le strade a destra (itinerario 16) e la strada a sinistra utilizzata dalle auto e prendiamo la mulattiera di fronte alla chiesa (segnavia FIE ):
E' una larga strada lastricata (u ciappin) percorsa dai pellegrini e termina sull'asfalto (km 3,6).
Seguitiamo a scendere sull'asfalto trascurando le laterali ed entriamo tra le case di Castagnabuona (km 3,9). Poco dopo attraversiamo la strada asfaltata ed imbocchiamo la crosa via Vecchia Castagnabuona.
Attraversiamo ancora l'asfalto e proseguiamo per crose asfaltate che scendono al viadotto (km 4,7) sull'autostrada.
La discesa prosegue su una bella mulattiera che costeggia nuove costruzioni e termina su una strada asfaltata (km 5).
Svoltiamo a destra, passiamo sotto alla ferrovia e raggiungiamo la viabilità principale (km 5,1).
Possiamo svoltare a sinistra e seguire la strada di scorrimento fino al Municipio, oppure svoltare a destra e raggiungere l'Aurelia per poi seguirla fino al centro.
Dislivello: -490 m. Ciclabilità: 100%. Asfalto: 50% Osservazioni: sconsigliabile in salita.
Descent from Bric of the Gallows to Varazze

From the peak of the Bric of the Gallows (bric Don Bosco) we go down following the same street of ascent to the cross (km 0,6).
We turn to the left and we follow the asphalted narrow road that leads to a wide square (km 0,9) where we continue on the principal road, now dirty, to the right.
When to the right it opens an evident path (km 1,7; FIE ) we leave the road and we turn.
The path goes down with some rocky passage and finishes on an unmetalled narrow road near a gate (km 3).
We turn to the left and we follow the unsurfaced road reaching the church of the Croce (km 3,2; guesthouse).
We neglect to the right the roads (itinerary 16) and the road to the left used by the cars and we take the mule-track in front of the church (trail sign FIE ):
It's a wide paved road (u ciappin) crossed by the pilgrims and it finishes on the asphalt (km 3,6).
We continue to go down on the asphalt neglecting side rads and we enter among the houses of Castagnabuona (km 3,9). Shortly after we cross the asphalted road and we take the "crosa" via Vecchia Castagnabuona.
We again cross the asphalt and we continue on asphalted "crose" that they go down to the viaduct (km 4,7) on the highway.
The descent continues on a beautiful mule-track that skirts new constructions and it finishes on an asphalted road (km 5).
We turn to the right, we pass under to the railroad and we reach the main street (km 5,1).
We can turn to the left and to follow the road to the Town hall, or to turn to the right and to reach the Aurelia for then to follow it up to the center. Gradient: -490 ms. Cycle: 100%. Asphalt: 50% Observations: unadvisable in ascent.
