Discesa dalla Madonna della Guardia a Cogoleto

Descrizione:
Dalla chiesa seguiamo a ritroso la via di salita. Lasciamo a sinistra la Cappella e scendiamo al valico (km 0,7) dove trascuriamo la strada per Varazze ed andiamo a destra superando una breve salita. Proseguiamo sulla evidente strada che raggiunge una sella (km 1,8) dove passa un sentiero segnalato.
Svoltiamo a destra e prendiamo un sentierino (che precede di qualche metro quello segnalato). Un leggera e facile discesa ci porta ad un bivio (km 2,1).
Andiamo a sinistra affrontando un discesa molto dissestata e poco ciclabile. Dopo una cinquantina di metri la discesa prosegue ripida ma con fondo buono e termina al guado di un ruscelletto (km 2,2).
Il sentiero prosegue quasi pianeggiante ma stretto. Quando riprendiamo la discesa il fondo si presenta profondamente solcato e non facile.
Una serie di tornanti ci porta al guado del torrente Areno (km 3; acqua non potabile).
Sull'altra sponda incontriamo un campo da motocross. Seguiamo la traccia più vicina al torrente raggiungendo un ponticello ed un prato al cui termine confluiamo su una strada sterrata (km 3,3).
Continuiamo sempre costeggiando il torrente. La strada va in lieve discesa e poi sale ad incrociare la strada asfaltata (km 4) percorsa dall'itinerario 9.
Svoltiamo a destra e seguiamo l'asfalto raggiungendo San Giacomo e l'Aurelia (km 6,9) che seguiamo a sinistra fino al centro di Cogoleto (km 9).
Dislivello: -430 m.
Ciclabilità: 97%
Asfalto: 56%.
Osservazioni: percorribile solo in discesa e non molto interessante. A levante della strada che porta al santuario si estende una vasta area di colline. Questo percorso la sfiora a settentrione mentre i sentieri che la attraversavano sono interrotti dagli alberi caduti.

Description:
From the church we follow the run of slope. We leave to the left the Chapel and we go down to the pass (km 0,7) where we neglect the road for Varazze and go to the right overcoming a brief slope. We continue on the evident road that reaches a saddle (km 1,8) where it passes a signalled path.
We turn to the right and we take a narrow path (what it precedes of some meter the signalled one). A light and easy descent brings us to a fork (km 2,1).
We go to the left facing a very ruined and few cycle descent. After about fifty meters the descent continues steep but with good bottom and it finishes to the ford of a brooklet (km 2,2).
The path continues almost level but narrow. When we take again the descent the bottom is deeply ploughed and not easy.
A series of hairping bends brings us to the ford of the Areno stream (km 3; non drinkable water).
On the other bank we meet a motocross field. We follow the trace nearest to the stream reaching a bridge and a lawn to whose term we meet on an unmetalled road (km 3,3).
We always continue skirting the stream. The road goes to light descent and then climb to cross the asphalted road (km 4) crossed by the itinerary 9.
We turn to the right and we follow the asphalt reaching St. Giacomo and the Aurelia (km 6,9) that we follow to the left up to the center of Cogoleto (km 9).
Gradient: -430 ms.
Cycle: 97%
Asphalt: 56%.
Observations: practicable only in descent and not very interesting.
