Aggiornamento: 9/2006 Partenza: Pratorotondo (bar, ristorante) è raggiungibile per strada asfaltata in discesa dal Beigua oppure salendo dalla valle Orba, via Piampaludo. E' raggiungibile con l'itinerario 1 da Varazze, via Faie o con l'itinerario 2. Descrizione:
Dal bar scendiamo sulla sterrata di fronte, attraversiamo la sbarra e seguiamo la sterrata che percorre il crinale fino al termine del Prato Ferretto (km 1,9)
Lasciamo a destra l'itinerario 29 e svoltiamo a sinistra e saliamo. Dopo poche decine di metri la salita diventa impedalabile a causa del fondo dissestato.
Continuiamo a salire fino ad uscire sul prato
sommitale dove troviamo un bivio (km 2,7). Lasciamo il segnavia e seguiamo a sinistra il segnavia FIE .
Il sentierino attraversa il prato tra grossi massi (questo tratto può creare problemi di orientamento in caso di nebbia). La pendenza aumenta leggermente mentre aggiriamo un bosco.
Il sentiero è pedalabile ma costringe a qualche passo a piedi per superare qualche masso.
Su sentiero sempre più evidente scendiamo tra boschi e radure, con qualche tratto a piedi.
Dopo un tornante il fondo diviene molto dissestato e la pendenza aumenta.
Raggiungiamo un sentiero che proviene da destra (km 4,8) e possiamo proseguire con minori difficoltà.
Ad un bivio (km 5,2) abbandoniamo il segnavia, che scende a destra,
e proseguiamo diritti sulla mulattiera. Dopo pochi metri la mulattiera si allarga e proseguiamo su una strada forestale che passa di fronte ad una cascina e scende all'asfalto (km 5,7).
Svoltiamo a destra e scendiamo lungo la strada asfaltata ignorando il segnavia. La strada compie un'ampia curva e raggiunge un quadrivio (km 6,2).
Abbandoniamo la strada e svoltiamo a destra entrando in una stradina asfaltata privata (FIE ). Percorsi 80 metri svoltiamo a sinistra e scendiamo seguendo un sentiero nel bosco.
Attraversiamo la strada asfaltata (km
6,5) e proseguiamo su una sterrata che, in 50 metri, raggiunge una casa.
Abbandoniamo la sterrata che prosegue e scendiamo nel sentiero. La discesa inizia con un tratto a scalini ed il largo sentiero prosegue ripido fino al fiume.
Attraversiamo utilizzando un ponte (km 6,9) che richiede qualche cautela nel procedere sulle lamiere rese trasparenti dalla corrosione.
Una breve rampa ci permette di raggiungere l'asfalto presso una casa.
Seguiamo la strada asfaltata che sale per terminare di fronte alla chiesa di Vara Inferiore (km 7,5). Dislivello: discesa 550 m; salita 130 m. Ciclabilità: 86% Asfalto: 18%. Osservazioni: difficile a causa delle pietre che ingombrano il sentiero. La bassa ciclabilità è dovuta ai 600 metri di salita dopo Prato Ferretto.
Descent from Pratorotondo to Vara
Updating: 9/2006 Start: Pratorotondo (cafe, restaurant) it is attainable by tarmac descending from the Beigua or climbing from the Orba valley, via Piampaludo. It's attainable by the itinerary 1 from Varazze, via Faie or by the itinerary 2. Description:
From the cafe we go down on the opposite dirt road, we cross the bar and we follow the dirt road that crosses the ridge up to the term of the Lawn Ferretto (km 1,9)
We leave to the right the itinerary 29 and we turn to the left and we climb. After few meters the ascent becomes no cycle because of the rough bottom.
We keep on climbing as far as go out on the lawn of the top where we find a fork (km 2,7). We leave the trail sign and we follow to the left the trail sign FIE .
The path crosses the lawn among big rocks (this stretch can create problems of orientation with fog). The inclination slightly increases while we are revolving a wood.
The path is cicle but it forces to some passes on foot to overcome some rock.
On path more and more evident we go down between woods and clearings, with some stretches on foot.
After an hairpin bend the bottom becomes a lot of rough and the inclination it increases.
We reach a path that comes from right (km 4,8) and we can continue with smaller difficulties.
To a fork (km 5,2) we leave the trail sign, that goes down to the right, and we continue straight on a mule-track. After few meters the mule-track it widens and we continue on a forest road that passes in front of a farmhouse and it goes down to the asphalt (km 5,7).
We turn to the right and we go down along the tarmac ignoring the trail sign. The road completes an ample curve and reaches a crossroads (km 6,2).
We abandon the road and we turn to the right entering a narrow private tarmac road (FIE ). Runs 80 meters we turn to the left and we go down following a path in the wood.
We cross the tarmac road (km 6,5) and we continue on a dirt road that, in 50 meters, it reaches a house.
We leave the dirt road that continues and we goes down in the path. The descent begins with a stairs and the wide path it continues steep up to the river.
We cross using a bridge (km 6,9) that it asks for some caution in the progress on the plates it made transparent by the corrosion.
A brief ramp allows us to reach the asphalt near a house.
We follow the tarmac that climbs to finish in front of the church of Vara Inferior (km 7,5). Gradient: descent 550 ms; ascent 130 ms. Cycle: 86% Tarmac: 18%. Observations: difficult because of the stones that obstruct the path. The low cicle is due to the 600 meters of ascent after Lawn Ferretto.
