Discesa dal Bric Berton a Tiglieto

Partenza: Il Passo del Bric Berton è situato sulla strada che collega Sassello a Ponzone, a 4,5 km da Palo.
Descrizione:
Dall´asfalto in località Passo del Bric Berton prendiamo l'ampia strada sterrata che va in direzione est. La strada aggira la vetta del bric, che è inaccessibile e recintata. Costeggiamo la recinzione ed entriamo nella foresta regionale.
Superiamo un´area attrezzata (km 0,8) e proseguiamo in leggera discesa. Ad un incrocio (km 1) incontriamo un segnavia  del CAI.
La strada è ora in moderata salita e conduce in località Pianazzi. Quando la strada comincia a scendere notiamo a sinistra un sentiero (km 2,2) con segnavia FIE  illeggibile e segnavia CAI cai. Lasciamo la strada, che termina poco dopo, ed imbocchiamo il sentiero.
La discesa è ripida ed attraversa il pendio roccioso. Raggiungiamo una spalla al cui termine riprendiamo la difficile discesa. Perdiamo quota con stretti tornanti e raggiungiamo un'altra spalla.
Ad un bivio (km 3,4) lasciamo a sinistra il segnavia CAI av 535 e proseguiamo diritti giù per il costone roccioso. Il segnavia FIE è invisibile ma il percorso è abbastanza evidente e sfrutta una vecchia mulattiera.
Il sentiero si porta a destra della cresta, percorre qualche metro in salita e nuovamente scende. Le difficoltà sono minori, ma pur sempre elevate.
Nel bosco incontriamo un sentiero pianeggiante (km 4,2) dove andiamo a destra. Scendiamo ad un guado (km 4,3) dove dobbiamo cercare il passaggio migliore, ostacolati soprattutto dalla vegetazione (se non riusciamo a passare direttamente è possible andare a sinistra, attraversare un affluente e guadare più a valle).
Sulla riva opposta individuiamo con qualche difficoltà il sentiero che sale sulla ripa e porta ad un prato dove hanno termine le difficoltà.
Seguiamo sul sentiero che si allarga a stradina. Raggiungiamo un bivio presso un fienile (km 5) dove andiamo diritti in discesa.
La mulattiera raggiunge una catena. Svoltiamo a destra (è possibile proseguire diritto ed andare a guadare il torrente Olbicella) e scendiamo in un piccolo ruscello risalendo sulla riva opposta fino ad uscire sull prato delle Case Pian del Foco.
Il sentiero corre tra il prato ed il torrente e porta ad un ponte (km 5,2) che scavalca, alto, il torrente Olbicella.
Al di là usciamo su una stradina.
Seguiamo la stradina che porta sulla strada asfaltata (km 6) non distante da Olbicella. Andiamo a destra e percorriamo la strada che costeggia l'Orba. Superiamo un tratto sterrato e scendiamo alla piana della Badia di Tiglieto. Proseguendo raggiungiamo un incrocio (km 9,7) dove svoltiamo a sinistra per salire a Tiglieto (km 11,7).
Dislivello: -450 m.
Ciclabilità: 96%
Asfalto: 43%.
Osservazioni: la parte centrale è molto difficile: stretti tornanti, gradoni rocciosi, pietre e pendenza elevata giù per un aspro sperone roccioso, in ambiente solitario.

Descent from the Bric Berton to Tiglieto

Point of departure. The Pass of the Bric Berton is situated on the road that connects Sassello to Ponzone, 4,5 kms from Palo.

Description:
From the asphalt in the place Pass of the Bric Berton we take the large dirt road that goes to east direction. The road revolves the peak of the bric, that is inaccessible and fenced. We coast along the enclosure and we enter the regional forest.
We get over a picnic area (km 0,8) and we descend to a fork where we meet the trail sign CAI cai.
The road climbs and reaches Pianazzi. When the road starts to go down we see to the left a path (km 2,2) with ilegible trail sign FIE  and cai. We take it leaving the road (that finishes shortly after).
The descent is steep and crosses the rocky slant. We reach a shoulder to whose term the difficult descent takes again. We lose height with narrow hairpin bends and we reach another shoulder.
After the shoulder the descent is again steep but less difficulty. To a fork (km 3,4) we continue straight on leaving the trailsign CAI av 535 and we face a very steep and difficult rocky slant.
The path stays to the right of the ridge, it crosses some meter in ascent and again it goes down. Difficulties are smaller, but always elevated.
We reach a level path (km 4,2) in the wood where we go to the right. We go down to a ford (km 4,3) over which we have to climb holding the right and climb to a lawn. Here they finish the difficulties.
We go to the left on the path that widens to narrow road. We reach a fork next to a barn (km 4,9) where we go straight.
When we arrive a chain we turn to the right and we go down (here we can go straight and ford the Olbicella river) in a narrow brook climbing on the opposite shore where we enter the lawn of Pian del Foco House.
The path races among the lawn and the river and reaches a bridge (km 5,2) that we cross. Beyond we go out on a narrow road where we turn to the right.
We follow the narrow road that leads on the tarmac (km 6) near Olbicella. We go to the right and we cross the road that skirts the Orba. We get over a dirt stretch and we go down to the plain of the Abbey of Tiglieto. Continuing we reach an intersection (km 9,7) where we turn to the left for climbing to Tiglieto (km 11,6).
Gradient: -450 ms.
Cycle: 96%
Tarmac: 43%.
Observations: the central part is very difficult: narrow hairpin bends, rocky steps, stones and elevated inclination down on a sour rocky spur, in solitary environment.
