Salita da Sassello al monte Avzè

Partenza: Sassello raggiungibile per asfalto da Albisola via Colle del Giovo o da San Pietro d'Urbe.
Descrizione:
Dalla piazza del Municipio di Sassello andiamo verso sud ed usciamo dal paese seguendo una stradina verso sinistra (segnavia FIE: g49).
Stiamo seguendo l'itinerario 12 al contrario. La strada costeggia il ruscello, passa a fianco del cimitero e raggiunge le case di Bastia (km 0,9) superate le quali inizia lo sterrato.
Con percorso in leggera salita raggiungiamo il guado del torrente e prendiamo la strada che sale a sinistra. Affrontiamo una ripida rampa che termina ad un colletto. Superato il crinale la salita riprende, sempre ripida, impegnativa e poco ciclabile.
Cambiamo ancora versante e raggiungiamo il culmine della salita (km 4) dove andiamo a destra con percorso più facile. Ci innestiamo in una strada forestale che seguiamo a destra eseguendo un lungo traverso.
Attraversiamo numerose sorgive superando alcuni costoni e raggiungiamo uno spiazzo con prese di un acquedotto (km 5,5). Qui la strada si impenna nuovamente. Guadagniamo quota faticosamente e superiamo qualche piccolo guado. Quando la pendenza diminuisce lasciamo a sinistra il segnavia FIE che sale troppo ripido (km 6,3) e proseguiamo sulla strada. Effettuiamo una curva e saliamo raggiungendo finalmente le case di Veirera (km 7).
Svoltiamo a destra e seguiamo l´asfalto fino al bivio dove svoltiamo a destra.
Scendiamo trascurando ogni segnavia e proseguiamo diritti sulla strada principale. Lasciamo alcune strade a destra che conducono a delle cascine e la strada diviene sterrata. Proseguiamo salendo a scavalcare un crinale.
Proseguiamo con bel percorso pianeggiante e trascuriamo le strade minori sulla destra. Arriviamo ad un grosso bivio (km 9,4) dove abbandoniamo la strada principale che sale diritta (e ripida) e svoltiamo a destra. Pochi metri in salita poi andiamo quasi pianeggiando tra i faggi. Una salita ci porta ad un quadrivio dove prendiamo la strada a destra e saliamo quasi in vetta al boscoso bric Macarin per poi proseguire in discesa.
Attraverso un bosco di betulle raggiungiamo uno spiazzo con area picnic (km 10,2). Un sentierino pianeggiante esce all'aperto in un ambiente di rocce e piccole roverelle raggiungendo la vetta (km 10,4) che non è altro che l'estrema propaggine rocciosa della costiera che abbiamo seguito.
Dislivello: 700 m.
Ciclabilità: 80%
Asfalto: 12%.
Osservazioni: fatto come descritto è un itinerario faticoso e poco ciclabile, consigliabile solo in discesa. Naturalmente è possibile raggiungere Veirera con l´itinerario 5 ed allora la ciclabilità è totale, oppure seguendo al contrario l´itinerario 6 che è un po' più ciclabile di quello descritto sopra (ciclabilità 92%).

Description:
From the square of the Town hall of Sassello we go toward south and we go out of the country following a narrow road toward left (trail sign FIE: g49).
We are following contrarily the itinerary 12. The road skirts the brook, passes beside the cemetery and reaches the houses of Bastia (km 0,9) get over which begins dirt.
With run in light ascent we reach the ford of the stream and we take the road that climbs to the left. We face a steep ramp that finishes to a saddleback. Overcome the ridge the ascent it takes again, always steep and binding.
We still change side and we reach the peak of the ascent (km 4) where we go to the right with easier run. We join there a forest road that we follow to the right performing a long beam.
We cross many springs overcoming some sides and we reach a clearing with plugs of an aqueduct (km 5,5). Here the road again rise. We gain height laboriously and get over some small ford.
When the inclination decreases we leave to the left the trail sign FIE that too steep climbs (km 6,3) and we continue on the road. We effect a curve and climb finally reaching the houses of Veirera (km 7).
We turn to the right and we follow the asphalt up to the fork where we turn to the right.
After a brief ascent the asphalt finishes. We go down disregarding every trail sign and we continue straight on the main road. We leave to the right some roads that they lead to the farmhouses and we continue to climb over a ridge.
We continue with beautiful level run and disregard the smaller roads on the right. We arrive to a big fork (km 9,4) where we leave the main road that right climbs (and steep) and we turn to the right.
Few meters in ascent then we go almost level among the beech trees. An ascent leads us to a crossroads where we take to the right the road and climb almost in peak to the woody bric Macarin then to continue in descent.
Through a wood of birch tree we reach a clearing with area picnic (km 10,2). A level path goes out to the open in an environment of rocks and small durmast reaching the peak (km 10,4) that it is not anything else other than the extreme rocky layer of the ridge that we have followed.
Gradient: 700 ms.
Rideable: 80%
Tarmac: 12%.
Observations: Naturally it is possible to reach Veirera with the itinerary 5 and then the cycle is total, or following contrarily the itinerary 6 that it is a more cycle than that described above (cycle 92%).
